School!
The spring term began yesterday. The experience has been great so far. My courses are good. Biology is interesting and doesn't seem too challenging, and I like the easygoing instructor; I'm kinda looking forward to the experiments, which we'll be doing in lab on Thursday. Still, I'm disappointed that I had to settle for biology. It wasn't my first choice. My friend and I actually wanted to enroll in an astronomy course. While looking for a suitable class time, we were upset because the only classes were held in the evening and we didn't think that made any sense. Only later did we realize that, duh, you can observe the stars and heavenly bodies only at night. *headdesk*

Roman history is totally awesome: I love the subject (we're studying the lives of the first emperors and Roman society) and the instructor and the familiar people. Jayne's so wonderful - a clever, intelligent, and engaging person, she makes every minute of the class period worth staying for. And my classmates - I know them from the Greek Myth class as well. They're so much fun to be around: a bunch of worldly, witty Classics majors, whose fascinating discussions range from the campaigns of Alexander to ancient Roman architecture to Brendan Frasier (don't ask - it's a long story). The other history course - about witchcraft and heresy in Old-World Europe - requires a lot of reading, studying, and writing. But there's an upside - no exams to stress about! The instructor wants us to write essays instead. I can do that. . . as long as I restrain myself from visiting my f-list and IJ groups every five minutes.

Then there's the two film courses: one on-campus, the other online. I don't like the on-campus course because it doesn't let out until 6pm, which is way too late to be staying out (at least for me - I like to be safe at home around 6pm, reading fanfiction with my supper :D). But the class meets only once a week, and it fulfills a requirement, so I'll take the good with the bad... The online course doesn't start until February - a relief, since I don't have to worry about it until next month.

My first scheduled class for each day doesn't start until past noon, meaning that I get to sleep a bit later than usual (more sleep = win!). But I still have to wake up an hour early for the long commute to uni and ugh, I HATE it. I wish I knew how to drive. It really wouldn't be a problem to learn, but I'm way too lazy to shop around to get the car so that my lessons could begin.

After a month of staying up 'til 4am and waking round noon, my body hasn't become accustomed to rising early in the morning, s required during the school year. I'll wake for a few minutes, then drift off, then wake again at the appropriate hour. My body's been good to me. I haven't woken up late, or gotten sick. *pats body*

School's just started again, but Ali-chan and I are already planning for our trips to SF, Seattle, and Japan. *inner squee* Spring break will be devoted to SF and Berkeley; this upcoming summer, we're heading to gorgeous Seattle; and next year is the big one: Japan - land of our manga, sushi, and pretty bishie dreams. Primary thing on our list of things-to-do when we get there: find Murakami Maki and beg her to hire us as her assistants. We can't actually be useful: since we don't draw, we couldn't help her with the manga (btw, does anyone know when vol. 2 comes out?), but she always mentioned the girls who got her tea or made her lunch and helped her throw ideas around. We could easily do that . . . It'd be a fun job. (Yeah I know, we're silly lunatics - we completely disregard relevant issues such as the language barrier and tracking her down. Well, um. That's just us :)
